In another post I had already talked about why cherry blossoms are important and the main places to appreciate them in Tokyo, if you want to know a little more, go to the following link: Why are sakura or cherry blossoms so important in Japan?. But now, I’m going to talk about the dates when they will bloom for 2018, which I know may interest those who are planning to come to Japan.

The dates may vary as they are updated the closer your arrival approaches but here I will give you an approximation so you can plan your trip. Also, consider that there is a full start and flowering date that can last a week each and that this year, apparently will arrive much earlier than other years.

However, the line they always follow is that they first start to leave in Okinawa, a city which is in southern Japan to continue upwards to Hokkaido, in northern Japan.

Next I show you a table with the main cities of Japan but if you have any doubt, leave a comment and I will gladly add it to the list so that you and more people know the dates of this beautiful event.

Personally, I think it is one of the best times of the year to visit Japan as it is usually very pleasant in terms of weather and the view of what each city is, as it highlights only the best. Since depending on the year but in summer or winter, it may not be enjoyed in the same way. If you arrive, please, do not hesitate to leave me your comments or doubts and I will help as much as I can.

Questions: Do you plan to visit Japan in the future? Have you heard of this Japanese custom? Have you done it before or would you like it in the future?
